Motion win their first tournament of the summer!

The 17U Mid-Penn Motion boy's team traveled to Bath, PA to take part in the Spring Storm Tournament hosted by the In the Zone aau program. The Motion got off to a hot start Friday night taking care of the ITZ-Roadrunners by 23 points. The Motion's intense pressure defense forced the Roadrunners into many turnovers, which led to numerous fastbreak points. Jordan Dockens came away with the play of game and perhaps the entire tournament when he threw down a massive poster dunk. This was one of the best dunks on somebody that I've seen in person, and I've been dunked on quite a few times myself.  is posted below,  The Motion's second game was against the Perkasie Knights. It looked like the Motion had the game wrapped up but the Knights went on a 16-2 run in the last few minutes to close out the game and the Motion lost a tough one 46-38.

The Motion rose early the next morning to compete in their 8:00 game against the Northeast Sting. It was win or go home, and the Motion were able to grind out a tough 52-41 victory. Their next game was a semi-final match against the ITZ-Roadrunners, whom they beat the night before very handily. This game wasn't so easy as the Roadrunners had figured out the Motion's 1-3-1 trapping zone and were able to keep it fairly close before falling 54-46. For the championship game the Motion got a little chance at revenge. They were to play the Perkasie Knights again and refused to squander another chance to take care of this team. The Motion got off to an early lead and never looked back, winning the game pretty soundly 60-47. New big man Josh Spaulding played a monster of a game, finishing with 17 points and 8 rebounds. This is the first tournament that the Motion have won this season. They will look to build on this success as the competition gets a little tougher in future tournaments. This Saturday, May 12th, the Motion will be participating in the Lower Buck Lightning Spring Fling in Langhorne, PA.
